About RAMP

(Recovery & Monitoring Program)

Supporting Nurses. Ensuring Safe Practice. Promoting Recovery.

24/7 Crisis Hotline for Impaired Nurses: 1-800-662-0108

What is RAMP?

The Recovery & Monitoring Program (RAMP) was established in 2003 as an Alternative to Discipline program, managed by the Institute for Nursing in collaboration with the New Jersey Board of Nursing.

RAMP provides a confidential, voluntary pathway for nurses struggling with substance use disorders, and other issues that impact their practice, ensuring public safety, professional accountability, and personal recovery. By offering treatment support, structured monitoring, and employer collaboration, RAMP helps nurses recover before impairment leads to patient harm.

How RAMP Helps Nurses

Confidential & Supportive – A safe space for nurses to seek treatment and recover.

Structured Recovery Plan – Assistance in finding appropriate treatment, ongoing monitoring, and return-to-work plan.

Public Safety & Compliance – Ensuring nurses in New Jersey maintain the highest standards of safe, high-quality patient care.

Employer Collaboration – RAMP works with healthcare organizations to facilitate safe reintegration into the workforce.

Safe Nursing Practice: The Reality

Substance use disorders and other impairments that affect individuals across all ages, backgrounds, and professions, including nurses.

Early intervention is critical—RAMP provides the monitoring and support needed for nurses to regain and sustain physical, social, emotional, and professional well-being.
